Der Gombe-Nationalpark liegt an der westlichen Grenze zwischen Tansania und dem Kongo am Ufer des Tanganjikasees. Der Nationalpark ist bekannt für seine einzigartige Schimpansen Population, die von Dr. Jane Goodall über Jahrzehnte lang studiert wurde. Sie verbrachte viele Jahr damit, das Verhalten der gefährdeten Schimpansen zu erforschen und zu schützen. Sie erschuf ein einmaliges Rückzugsgebiet für diese bemerkenswerten Tiere, die wir hier kennen lernen dürfen.

Unsere Gombe Wandersafaris führen Besucher tief in den Wald, um die außergewöhnlichen Primaten zu beobachten und mit ihnen Zeit zu verbringen – ein unglaubliches Erlebnis und eines, das der Höhepunkt vieler Besucherreisen nach Afrika ist. Diese Tiere kommen uns manchmal so menschlich vor, dass man oft das Gefühl einer Vertrautheit bekommt. Neben der Beobachtung von Schimpansen leben noch viele andere Primatenarten in den tropischen Wäldern von Gombe. Grüne Meerkatzen und Colobus-Affen, Paviane, Waldschweine und kleine Antilopen bewohnen den natürlichen Wald, zusätzlich zu einer großen Vielfalt tropischer Vogelarten. Die Schönheit des Gombe-Nationalparks ist einzigartig. Es ist ein Park ohne Straßen, in dem du wandern gehen kannst und die Natur mit allen Sinnen erleben kannst. Der Park beherbergt ungefähr 100 Schimpansen. Obwohl es möglich ist, den Gombe-Nationalpark an einem Tag zu erkunden, empfehlen wir mindestens 1 Übernachtung in der Gombe Forest Lodge, um die Zeit mit den Schimpansen und die Schönheit der Natur bei Nacht zu genießen.

7:30 After breakfast we pick you up from your hotel in Kigoma and take you to our meeting point. Our captain will take you with a private boat all the way to Gombe National Park (2 Hours). Our guide will explain to you all facts & history of Lake Tanganyika. The boat will be waiting for you until you finish your safari.

10:00 Once you arrive the Gombe National Park our guides will prepare you for the walking safari. Our guides will do their best to help you to spot the chimpanzees and other species. On your way through the park you will see the Kakombe Waterfalls and you will walk along the shores of Lake Tanganyika. Please note that the park is about 52 sqm big and good shoes are required as the terrain can get quite difficult. Please bring a rain jacket (rain season is between mid February to early June) and some clothes to change after the walking safari.

16.30 You will start your way back to the park entrance where you can enjoy lunch and relax at the beach.

17:30 Start your boat trip back to Kigoma. Our guide will assist you during all the trip and will take you to your hotel.

20:00 Arrival at your accommodation in Kigoma & end of safari services.

Absolutely yes. We will arrange all airport transfers for you from and to the airport so that you don’t have to worry about how to get to your hotel. One of our drivers or guides will come to pick you up and take you back to the airport. This is already included in our offers and services.

A private departure can be arranged at any time according to your individual travel dates for highest flexibility. A group departure has a planned schedule on a specific date and let you share some costs while travelling. So if you are on a budget and want to meet friends from all over the world you can join one of our groups.

Absolutely yes. Our handpicked hotels all offer you to safely store your luggage during your climb. In this way you can leave all gear that you won’t need during your climb at the hotel. That is very convenient if you are planning to go on a safari or to Zanzibar after your hike.

Tanzania Horizon Safaris has worked out a very transparent cancellation policy. In most cases we can offer a voucher if you have  to postpone your travel. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us. Please note that deposits are non-refundable as they have to be used for making reservations for your hotel and transport.

*If a booking is cancelled the client is subject to a cancellation fee as follows:

  • until 4 weeks prior to departure – 30% Cancellation Fee
  • 4-2 weeks prior to departure – 50% Cancellation Fee
  • 2-1 weeks prior to departure – 75% Cancellation Fee
  • less then 1 week prior to departure – 100% Cancellation Fee: The company reserves the right to cancel any tour at its sole and absolute discretion, without prior notification in instances where this is unavoidable. However, in that case the company agrees to refund all money that has already been paid by the client. This shall be the company’s sole responsibility to the client and no claim for any damages, howsoever arising, shall accrue against the company.
