All Kilimanjaro Climbs start in Moshi Town, located south of Kilimanjaro. Moshi can be reached by plane from Dar es Salaam and even international flights to Kilimanjaro International Airport (airport code: JRO). The town itself is a 40 minutes to 1 hour drive away from the airport. Tanzania Horizon Safaris offers pick up services for all our clients to your accommodation. We offer 3 different accommodation categories that you can see here. Even though it is possible to start climbing on your arrival day we highly recommend to spend at least one night in Moshi to recover from your flight and to adapt a bit to the climate in Moshi.
On your arrival day we will take you to your accommodation and give you a first briefing. You will meet your mountain guide for a health check up and to check your Climbing Gear. We will also ask you for your required Travel Insurance. You can bring all your gear – or simply rent it on arrival so that you don’t have to carry it in your luggage.
If any important gear should be missing you will be able to rent it prior to your climb. Your guide will talk about your Climbing Route, the current weather condition and everything you need to know prior to your climb. You will also be provided with a brochure and our Safety Guidelines. All that will help you to prepare mentally for the next days on the mountain. After a relaxing night at your hotel we will meet you in the morning for a last briefing where you will meet your crew with all guides and porters. Together we will drive to the Kilimanjaro National Park Gate according to your Climbing Route. You will be able to leave the luggage that you don’t need during your climb at your accommodation where it will be kept securely.
After your climb you can add Daytrips to waterfalls, coffee plantations, Arusha National Park or even a longer time Safari to Serengeti and other beautiful Nationalparks of Tanzania and Zanzibar to relax on the beach.
